  • Promoting Learning

Preschool kids are in the process of becoming confident learners. We take their confidence to the next level with hands-on education. Your 3- to 4-year-old child is ready for structured learning activities that touch on early literacy, math, science and social studies. Our program balances these subjects with opportunities for independent exploration – and a healthy dose of running, jumping and dancing.

Our teachers harness the energy of learning to create a focused, engaged environment in which children are poised to thrive. Through play and interactive dialogue, children are encouraged to express their own individuality, as well as appreciate the unique traits of others.

Our preschool program nurtures inquisitive minds and refines core skills as children prepare to enter kindergarten. With a variety of learning centers throughout the room, children are encouraged to explore at their own pace and experiment with new concepts and skills. The result is well-rounded, confident children who possess the ability to solve problems, make decisions, and engage with others.

Our preschool classroom honors and inspires the incredible connections that children infer about the objects, actions, and people in the world around them. In addition, our curriculum stimulates each child’s innate curiosity and exploratory nature to prepare children for lifelong learning. Children move to elementary school socially prepared, excited to learn, and well versed in the language, math, and science skills they’ll need to succeed.

    Whole Group Circle

Each day begins in a whole group circle to set the learning intention for the day. With whole group circles interspersed throughout the day, children explore themes and concepts together as they share ideas, interact, and gain confidence.

    Small Group Rotations

Children pursue their passions and acquire new knowledge through a combination of free choice and teacher-led activities. Center-based learning enables exploration through play, direct instruction, math, science, writing, and sensory experiences.

    Play, Play, Play!

At HCCC, we deeply cherish play-based learning through playful interactions amongst peers, with teachers, and in independent settings. With open-ended materials, children are encouraged to explore, create, and question a variety of learning topics as they freely and imaginatively investigate the world around them. Mr. Rogers said it best when he declared, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”

    Playground Time

Our program provides a balanced developmental approach emphasizing language and literacy in the context of physical, emotional, and interpersonal development, math, science, social studies, music, movement, and art.

    Rest

After lunch, a designated nap time helps children calm their bodies and rejuvenate. Please provide a fitted crib sheet and blanket for your child.
