Preschool News

Goodbye April showers, we’re ready to pick May’s flowers! We have many fun activities planned this month.

Some dates to remember:

May 18- Vo-Ag Field trip to HVRHS

May 15-19 – Book fair at HCCC

May 29– Memorial Day- Join us at the parade!

We will be finishing up our investigation of books early in the month of May. We are excited to be celebrating the completion of our investigation with a book fair and receiving our bound and printed book from Shutterfly.

During the second half of May we will begin planting and gardening. The preschoolers will help develop an area for gardening play on their playground and we will transplant our seedlings into their garden homes in the beds around our center.

With months of mild weather before us the preschool class is spending an increasing amount of time outdoors on our playground and in the surrounding fields and paths. We have observed many ticks already, and wish to remind parents to send in bug spray for your child if you have not done so already. NAEYC regulations limit the number of applications of bug repellant made by teachers to one application. We will be asking parents to apply bug repellent at drop-off in the morning so that we may re-apply in the afternoon in our best efforts to keep the children safe and healthy. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Toddler News

Happy May!

We are excited to welcome Alivia and Kaylee to our room from the infant room!

Our toddler 1 themes include: bugs, Mother’s Day, community helpers, and a pond study. Our toddler 2 themes include: alphabet and numbers, Mother’s Day, down by the pond, and insects and crawlies.

We will be spending a lot of time outside in the coming weeks so please be sure that your child has rainboots for the nice spring weather and mud!

We have seen a lot of ticks so far so please be sure to bring in sunscreen and bug spray if you haven’t already. NAEYC only allows us to apply one application of bug spray so we will be asking parents to do one application in the morning at drop off so that we can do another in the afternoon to ensure your child’s safe and healthy!

The toddler two’s will be going on a field trip to HVRHS for the V0-Ag tour on May 17th. We need two chaperones please! We are leaving the center at 10:00am. Please speak to Kristina or Blake if you are interested in chaperoning.

Please remember that we are closed on Memorial Day – May 29th and that we walk in the Salisbury Memorial Day Parade! Join us!

Lastly, don’t forget your child’s diapers and wipes for the month of May.

We would like to give a special thanks to Jake Hurlburt for fixing our wagon! We can use it for walks around the parking lot, to town, etc.
